We’re halfway through 2024, and it’s been a grueling year on many fronts. Our collective at Movement Generation is energized by the work that we are privileged to do in this historic time. As the global community faces shocks and slides in every direction, from multiple genocides and ecofascist threats to dystopian tech takeovers and recordbreaking heatwaves and floods, the challenges of our time are formidable to say the least, and there is so much opportunity to leverage this moment towards the shifts we need.
For MG, we remain rooted in our mission to uplift the resilience of our communities, including the work of land liberation, movement building towards a Just Transition from the extractive economy to life-affirming regenerative economies, and cultural strategy that not only grounds us in our ancestries and visions but also helps us actively rebuild new worlds.
What does this work look like? Let our summer newsletter give you a taste of what’s moving in MG’s programs as we move towards ecological justice.

In this newsletter, we are so excited to share that we will be hosting our first in-real-life Justice & Ecology Retreat in seven years! And we are even more excited about the absolutely phenomenal organizations, cultural workers, and healers that are joining us in this year’s cohort. Together we will study and strategize to build bioregional governance across Salmon Nation as a response to ecofascism.
Learn about the beautiful dream weaving we’re doing to uplift the vibrant community of Deep East Oakland, where many of our collective members call home, and where many educators, artists, and community leaders are putting in the work.
