Back to School With MG!

Our Back to School Grassroots Fundraising Drive continues!

And at the MG School, every day is Labor Day!

As you know, core concepts taught in the MG ‘classroom’ are rooted in the belief that by bringing ourselves into right relationship with soil, story, each other and the ecosystems that hold us, we can create a better way forward.
Several key leaders from UNITE HERE 2850 went through the MG spring 2013 retreats, as part of the Labor Cohort organized by Brooke Anderson.

And in our classrooms, we put forth that the first rule of ecological restoration is: The restoration of human labor. Human labor is the precious natural resource, which the dominant economy has concentrated, controlled and exploited, and is wielding like a chainsaw against the rest of the natural world. Because of this, we must unlock our labor from the chains of the market and instead restore it back into the web of life.

In this context, MG is incredibly excited and honored to have Brooke Anderson on board as our MG Labor Fellow! In the short months since joining our team, Brooke has already galvanized an exciting mix of Bay Area unions and labor activists to step up their leadership in the struggle for ecological justice. She has also been coordinating important initiatives on a national level, including the recent release of an open letter to the leadership of the AFL-CIO from 60+ Climate Justice organizations.

While Brooke got her start in the movement fighting medical waste incinerators, she brings an amazing wealth of experience within the labor movement. Brooke spent the last 13 years in the labor movement and community organizing, most recently at the East Bay Alliance for a Sustainable Economy (EBASE) where she fought campaigns for justice for hotel workers, port truck drivers and other workers.
Please help keep labor at the center of MG’s work, by making a $150 donation today.
